President Prabowo Subianto highlighted the significance of the launch of 800,081 Merah Putih Village Cooperatives, not only to enhance economic independence among the people but also to eradicate the exploitative practices of middlemen and loan sharks that have long disadvantaged rural farmers. At the official inauguration of the program in Bentangan Village, Klaten Regency, Central Java, President Prabowo underscored his observations of persistent issues faced by farmers, such as the lack of proper storage facilities and transportation for harvest. He also discussed the bureaucratic challenges that hinder subsidized fertilizer distribution to farmers. Additionally, President Prabowo addressed the exploitation of farmers by middlemen, who manipulate prices and force farmers to borrow from loan sharks. The establishment of Merah Putih Village Cooperatives aims to break the cycle of exploitation and bring about transformation for generations of farmers in Indonesia.
