European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has announced a new visa policy to facilitate the entry of Indonesian citizens into the European Union. From now on, Indonesians making their second visit to the EU will be eligible for a multi-entry Schengen visa. This decision was disclosed during a joint press conference with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in Brussels, emphasizing the aim of strengthening long-term ties between Indonesia and the EU, specifically in areas like education, investment, and social exchange. Von der Leyen highlighted that the new visa policy is designed to not only simplify travel but also to encourage investment, education, and deeper connections between the two regions. This move is part of the people-to-people connections pillar, a key element in the EU-Indonesia strategic partnership. President Prabowo welcomed the deepening of ties between the EU and Indonesia, emphasizing the significance of trust, shared values, and a long-term partnership. He expressed optimism for the finalization and signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in Brussels, highlighting the mutual benefits and cooperation that this new chapter in bilateral relations will bring.
