Meeting of Prabowo and Macron at the Palace: A Patriotic Encounter

Indonesia and France have enjoyed diplomatic relations for over seventy years since 1947. Recently, President Emmanuel Macron of France received a grand state welcome in Jakarta, showcasing the spirit of friendship and mutual respect between the two nations. The grounds of Merdeka Palace and the area surrounding the National Monument (Monas) were filled with around 3,000 students from elementary to high school levels, elegantly dressed and proudly waving the flags of Indonesia and France. Amid tight security, President Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron arrived at the palace in a motorcade, intensifying the ceremonial ambiance.

President Macron shared warm greetings with the students upon his arrival at Merdeka Palace, where he was welcomed by President Prabowo Subianto. The two leaders proceeded together to the ceremonial grounds, where the national anthems of both countries were played, followed by a 21-gun salute as a formal tribute. In the presence of the enthusiastic students waving miniature flags in the palace courtyard, Prabowo and Macron inspected the honor guard under the clear blue sky of Jakarta.

The ceremony was graced by ministers from the Red and White Cabinet, as well as Prabowo’s son, Ragowo Hediprasetyo. President Macron’s visit to Indonesia also included visits to the Military Academy in Magelang and the UNESCO World Heritage site, Borobudur Temple, emphasizing the shared cultural and educational values between Indonesia and France. Subsequent to the welcome ceremony, the two heads of state engaged in a closed-door bilateral meeting to discuss various strategic partnerships, solidifying the bonds between Indonesia and France.
