President Prabowo Subianto visited Saudi Arabia on July 2–3, 2025, to strengthen cooperation in providing better services for Indonesian pilgrims during their Hajj and Umrah journeys. During his visit, he met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah to express appreciation for the Saudi government’s dedication to serving pilgrims worldwide, including those from Indonesia.
The meeting highlighted the close partnership between the two countries in ensuring the safety and comfort of Indonesian pilgrims during their religious activities. Both leaders agreed to enhance the quality of services for Indonesian pilgrims in future Hajj seasons, reinforcing their commitment to ensuring a seamless pilgrimage experience.
In addition to discussions on Hajj-related matters, strategic agreements were made to deepen bilateral relations. The Saudi–Indonesia Supreme Coordination Council, led by the Crown Prince and President Prabowo, focused on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, energy, and technology. Bilateral trade between the two countries has been significant, reaching around USD 31.5 billion over the past five years.
Furthermore, agreements were signed to promote private sector investment amounting to approximately USD 27 billion. These investments are projected to create job opportunities in Indonesia, particularly in sectors like energy, industrial development, and environmentally sustainable technology.
Both leaders also stressed the significance of collaboration in the health sector, particularly in meeting the medical needs of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. They discussed the advancement of the pharmaceutical and vaccine industries as well as the improvement of health workforce capacity.
On the international front, President Prabowo and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reiterated their dedication to supporting peaceful conflict resolutions in the region. They affirmed their support for a two-state solution for Palestine and emphasized the role of international humanitarian organizations in promoting peace and stability.
The visit highlighted the strong and growing partnership between Saudi Arabia and Indonesia in various fields, emphasizing their joint efforts to enhance services for Indonesian pilgrims and deepen cooperation for the benefit of both nations.
