President-elect Prabowo Subianto, who is set to take office for the 2024-2029 term, has called on his supporters and volunteers from the Prabowo-Gibran alliance to maintain peace and unity in Indonesia by avoiding any mass protests at the Constitutional Court.
“I want to make it clear,” Prabowo said, “I sincerely urge all Indonesians, especially the 96.2 million who supported the Prabowo-Gibran ticket, to refrain from protesting outside the Constitutional Court or any other location. We must protect our democratic stability and uphold the unity of our nation.”
While acknowledging the accusations made by his opponents, Prabowo urged his followers to remain composed and peaceful.
“It is understandable to feel disturbed amidst the current tensions,” he acknowledged, “and although many of you have reacted passionately, I urge everyone to stay vigilant and approach this situation with a mindset focused on maintaining harmony and peace. Let us not succumb to provocations that seek to disrupt our societal tranquility.”
Prabowo stressed the importance of showing restraint and keeping a calm demeanor in order to prioritize the well-being of the Indonesian people and the country’s unity.
“I urge everyone to stay calm, be thoughtful, and exercise self-control. Let the Constitutional Court and its judges fulfill their duties with integrity, with a focus on the welfare of our people and the future of our beloved country,” he concluded.
