Prabowo Subianto’s closing statement in the fifth debate organized by the KPU at JCC Senayan, Jakarta, on Sunday (5/2) evening, has attracted public attention.
During the closing statement, Prabowo reaffirmed his commitment to building the country with vice-presidential candidate Gibran Rakabuming Raka. He also apologized to the other presidential candidates and the KPU for any mistakes during the debate and the campaign.
Thousands of comments flooded the Tiktok and X (formerly Twitter) applications. Most netizens appreciated Prabowo’s statement. The Chairman of the Gerindra Party’s words even brought tears to the eyes of many netizens.
One of the most impactful responses was from a user named @ilkavalentinaa on Tiktok. She posted a video of her foreign husband being deeply moved and crying when hearing Prabowo’s closing statement.
“I have a foreign husband, but he loves Mr. Prabowo so much that he was deeply moved by his closing statement. Stay healthy, Mr. Prabowo,” she wrote in the caption.
The flood of appreciation for Prabowo was also visible in the comments section of the Kompas TV TikTok account, which uploaded a clip of Prabowo’s statement. Many netizens considered that Prabowo had a big heart because he dared to apologize. They also expressed their wishes for Prabowo’s health.

“Mr. Prabowo, sorry, thank you are words that are hard for humans to say,” said the account @anothersideofvj.

Prabowo’s statement was not only widely discussed on Tiktok, but also on X. Several accounts with hundreds of thousands of followers openly expressed their impressions of Prabowo’s closing statement.
“Oh my God, Mr. @prabowo. Thank you for being so gentle to apologize and embrace everyone for the sake of harmony,” comedian Kiky Saputri wrote on her personal X account, @kikysaputrii.
“Thank you for being thankful and not forgetting anyone’s contributions. Thank you for not discrediting or belittling anyone. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you,” she added.
Another comment came from the account @kurawa, who saw Prabowo’s statement as a humble figure who openly acknowledged the strengths of other candidates.
“The best closing in #debatcapres2024 is from candidate 02 Prabowo-Gibran. A humble couple: apologizing and acknowledging that other candidates are the best sons. And once again stating: I will be the President for all of the Indonesian people, definitely just one round for 02,” @kurawa wrote.
Similar appreciation was also expressed by @PartaiSocmed on X. This account even mentioned that Prabowo-Gibran focused on collaboration rather than showcasing themselves when closing the debate.
